20 simple tips to save energy consumption

Energy saving is becoming a serious problem. And the point is not entirely in people's self-awareness, but in the fact that utility tariffs are steadily growing. Everyone who receives an invoice at the end of the month asks the question: "how to save on electricity"?

In this article, 20 simple tips are written, thanks to which you can significantly save electricity.

smart plug to save electricity

Tip #1

Unplug sockets. Electrical appliances, even in standby mode, can consume electricity. Therefore, turn off all the "red lights" and pull out all the wires from the network.

Tip #2

Buy only energy-saving lamps. Despite the fact that they are significantly more expensive than incandescent lamps, they save electricity by 3-4 times, and they last 10-12 times longer.

Tip #3

Turn off the lights. Although it is trite, make sure that the lamps and electrical appliances in the apartment do not work in vain (they forgot to turn off the lights in the corridor, the TV is on, but no one is watching it).

There is one good way that can help in this matter. If a child lives with you (daughter, son, sister, nephew, and so on), appoint him as an "electricity controller". If the kid sees that one of the adult inhabitants of the apartment did not turn off the light, then he must pay a fine. The effect is amazing - the family saves electricity, the child earns pocket money on inattentive relatives.

Tip #4

Shake out the vacuum cleaner. The vacuum cleaner will work much more powerful if there is no debris inside it. Cleaning will end faster, so less energy will be needed.

Tip #5

Soak clothes before washing. The dirt will quickly move away from the outfits, and it will not be necessary to wash it in the washing machine several times.

Tip #6

Defrost the refrigerator. A frozen refrigerator clogged with frozen ice will work worse by 15%.

Tip #7

Install a dual rate meter. The night rate is valid from 23: 00 to 07: 00. The price of electricity during this period is two times cheaper compared to the day. Conventional counters count all used energy on one balance. Therefore, it is not clear how much was spent during the day, and how much at night. To divide the use into two different balances, you need to purchase a two-tariff meter. Consumers who use this claim that the money spent on installation pays off in 2-3 years.

In order to use such a counter more efficiently, it is good to have a delayed start mode on the equipment. Now this feature is not uncommon. There are a lot of washing machines, multicookers, bread machines with it. Such a technique can be programmed in the evening, and in the morning, hang up the washed clothes, have breakfast with pilaf and a fresh cupcake. And the best thing is that the used electricity for these benefits of civilization will cost half as much as usual.

Tip #8

Use zone lighting. There is no need to turn on the light in the whole room, it is enough to illuminate individual zones. For these purposes, you can use less powerful lamps than are usually placed in the main chandelier.

Tip #9

Choose light wallpaper. Sunlight bounces off white. Therefore, in a white room it will always be lighter than in an apartment with a dark interior.

Tip #10

It is not difficult to do this: Pour a small amount of water into the kettle, throw in 15 grams of baking soda and boil it. Pour out the water, and repeat this procedure again, but with citric acid.

Tip #12

Remove scale from the washing machine. Just like a kettle, a washing machine consumes a lot of electricity when scale has accumulated on the parts for heating water. The machine should be cleaned in the same way as in tip No. 11, the kettle, only you will have to take more citric acid - 5 sachets. Pour one into the drum itself, the rest to where you pour the washing powder. Set the boil mode.

Citric acid can be replaced with acetic acid. Pour 50 ml into the machine and also run the water 90 degrees. But keep in mind that acetic acid is more aggressive than citric acid. Vinegar will descale the water faster, but it can damage the rubber parts of the washing machine.

Tip #13

Replace the wiring, sometimes the increased power consumption is due to the old wiring

Tip #14

Buy equipment, class A, AA, AAA. these are the most energy-saving classes. This indicator is calculated according to the electricity consumption of the device for the year to the standard consumption. If, for example, a washing machine consumes 55% of the standard, then this is class A, up to 75% - class B, up to 95% - C, and so on.

Tip #15

Therefore, do not forget to clean the system unit from dust in time. In addition, if the system unit overheats very much, it may even deteriorate. By cleaning your computer in time, you will save yourself from an unexpected purchase.

Tip #20

Choose LCD monitors. LCD monitors consume 3 times less energy than their counterparts CRT monitors.

Use these tips, and electricity bills will pleasantly surprise you in the near future.
